Making good on a promise

Yay! Two posts in a week. I'm on a roll! Nothing terribly special happened this week, except Kathy Lee Gifford ticked me off this morning. I never watch TV in the morning, but Josh was off and I actually had time to slowly get ready in the bedroom, so I thought I would watch a little TV. They were discussing the lady in California who had the 8 babies. At this point everyone in the media and most news-watchers have a negative opinion of this lady. I'm not upset with her, but about all the negativity around the story. 8 babies were born alive and still kicking. That is a miracle. Having one baby arrive here on earth is a miracle, let alone 8. Was it ethical? Most likely not. I'm not sure of the mother's motives in having such a high order birth, especially given her gaggle of kids at home, her marital and job status. But really. Lay off and be happy that these children are alive.

Kathy Lee was griping about how the world is getting over-populated and how the state if CA is already bankrupt. Both of those things are true, but given a different perspective one could see how having 8 more children in this world could be a blessing and not a burden. That is 8 more chances for precious souls to have the chance at a mortal body and all the wonderful blessings and trials we receive in this life. That is 8 more opportunities to mold great mothers, fathers, civic and spiritual leaders. It is 8 more ways for that birth mother to love.

I know from having a "large" family myself that judgement is placed on those who choose to have more than your average 2 kids. I hear it all the time.."you know how to stop getting pregnant right?" or "wow, you have a slew of kids". The thing is, I don't feel like 4 is such a big number, and some day I'd love another, but sometimes I just get sick of the looks and jibes (of course all my Mormon friends and family are totally fine in joking, because I know you are hiding your 10 kids under your long skirt and big hair.LOL). I guess the point I'm trying to make is the size of a family should be between a married couple and Heavenly Father. If two is right for your family, great. If you want 10, more power to you. Just love your children, take care of them, and teach them to be good people.

My 2 cents to stimulate the economy

I have lusted after DSLRs since they came out, but never thought we could afford one. Luckily technology advances and prices drop! So, with our refund from Uncle Sam, I was able to purchase a Canon Rebel XSi (450d). Yay!! I feel a little overwhelmed with the steep learning curve, but have already learned so much thanks to friends and the internet. I heart YouTube. I plan on taking a class soon, but until then, I'll learn what I can and just shoot as much as I can. Haiden already starts to get fussy when he sees the "big" camera come out. Sorry kid, you have a long row to hoe. Here are some pictures from the first couple of days with the camera. Hopefully soon I will get the Photoshop mystery unravelled so I can edit my masterpieces.

I also will take the time in this post to make a re-committment to update this blog to the best of my ability. I frequent Facebook and Myspace, but I know that can be a pain for Grandmas and Grandpas to navigate. I hope this blog helps all those who love our Chicken Nuggets to see their photos and read of their antics. Aloha

Woohoo, It's up finally. This blog that is. It has been many months before I have finally come back around, but I'm back. I'm hoping this can take the place of having family check out my Myspace. Not that I'm trying to be super-secret, it's just that I need to set my Myspace profile to private. I have left it puclic for the last couple of years so that family can check it out for pictures of the kids, but I'm getting quite the supply of spam. So I promise to keep this update and stocked with fresh photos of the "nuggets". Aloha
